Destination, Darfur, The Untold Story of Peace & Hope unveils the cruel mirage that a majority of mainstream media has painted about Darfur, Sudan.

The hour-long documentary highlights the current issues, challenges, culture, freedom of religion and stable life of the Sudanese people. The video also covers and explains common myths about life and culture. While there is conflict between the nomads and farmers as well as among the tribes, a majority of the 39 million of people in Sudan live peacefully.

The horrific accounts that most people have heard about Darfur is only a small sampling of occurrences in the region. If the only news about America was about gang violence and murders in our metropolitan cities, we’d have a slanted impression of our country too.

For three weeks in Sudan, Sierra Scott and her news crew interviewed many people including villagers, nomads living in displacement camps, business owners, religious leaders, media personalities, university professors, historians and government employees.

She was free to travel, shoot video and interview anyone in the area without the Sudanese government looking over her shoulders. She was not paid to produce the video or pressured by Sudanese officials.

“I feel a connection with the Sudanese people,” said Scott. “They didn’t want money, food, aid or gifts. Everyone I met simply asked me to tell the story that I saw with my own eyes.”
